New York
In New York City, 1.8 million of our neighbors live in poverty and family homelessness is at record levels. Robin Hood finds, funds and partners with 200 schools and programs shown to be most effective at creating a measurable impact for families in need.
We’ve heard from many Robin Hood donors about the importance of finding ways for children to experience the joy of giving back. To that end we invite you to explore the opportunities below as tangible ways to involve your family in our lifesaving work:
• Start the conversation with your children by using the talking points found in the Robin Hood family discussion guide.
• Set up a Lemonaid stand in your neighborhood. Philanthropy never tasted so sweet.
• Make birthdays and other occasions special by encouraging loved ones to donate to Robin Hood rather than giving your family gifts. Create and personalize your gift registry.
• Invite a Robin Hood staff member to speak at a school assembly.
• Volunteer together at a Robin Hood-funded organization.
• Teenage children of major donors are eligible for Camp Robin Hood, a five-day program that explores the issues of poverty and grant making through site visits, talks and volunteer experiences.
For more information on these programs, contact Marianne Macrae at (212) 844-3597 or macrae@robinhood.org
