June 5, 2009 New York
A message from Dan Och, Robin Hood Board Member:
As a board member of Robin Hood, I am deeply involved in the fight against poverty in New York City. As a father, I am always looking for ways to make sure my children understand the joy of giving back. That's why Robin Hood's Lemonaid has been a meaningful summer tradition in my family for the past five years. It's the "hook" that got my kids involved with Robin Hood's vital mission.
This summer, you and your family are invited to join us and set up a Lemonaid stand in your community. Robin Hood will even send you materials to outfit your stand: Robin Hood stickers, recipes, an informational sheet on Robin Hood and a description of how each glass of Lemonaid sold helps people in need.
Last year, Lemonaid raised over $100,000 to fund the best poverty-fighting organizations in New York City, including high-performing schools in poor neighborhoods, lifesaving clinics and job-training programs that help New Yorkers earn their way to a better life. Beyond the amount raised, it's a powerful tool to ready the next generation of poverty fighters.
If you would like to get involved or if you have any questions, contact Katie Martin at martin@robinhood.org. I hope to see you this summer at a Lemonaid stand.
