Ackerman Institute for the Family

This organization develops innovative and effective models of treatment for families in trouble and trains clinicians to implement them. Its Bright Beginnings model, an intensive three-year approach that begins when women are pregnant and ends when the child is three, aims to improve parents' ability to nurture their children, an approach shown to reduce child abuse and neglect as well as improve children's cognitive development and later achievement.

Robin Hood helps to pay for professional development at Ackerman’s five sites and for translation of Bright Beginnings materials from English into Spanish and other languages.
