CASES' Career Ex program not only cuts the rate of rearrest and felony reconviction to less than 20 percent (compared to 75 percent for the general population of New York City juvenile offenders), but promotes education and employment.

CASES

Center for Alternative Sentencing and Employment Services (CASES) runs programs that provide supervision and services to young offenders, offering employment assistance and other alternatives to incarceration. The organization works with the justice system to provide community-based sentencing options that reduce crime, length of jail sentences and the number of young people in prison. By addressing the factors that underlie criminal behavior—poor education, lack of community support, inability to get and keep a job, substance abuse and low self-esteem—its programs help offenders reintegrate into society.

Robin Hood supports Career Exploration, a four-month program that includes education, vocational training, personal development and an internship. The program serves juvenile, first-time felony offenders, aged 15-19, who live in low-income neighborhoods.
