Children's Defense Fund–New York
Children's Defense Fund (C.D.F.) is the country's leading national advocate for children. In New York City, its work focuses on improving access to health care and child care for poor children.
Robin Hood supports one of C.D.F.'s key strategies: training community-based organizations to sign up families for publicly funded health insurance (“facilitated enrollment”), an idea piloted and championed by C.D.F. and written into state law in 1999. Since then, tens of thousands of children have gained first-time access to health care each year.
