1999 Hero

CEO, Scholastic Inc.

Before Robin Hood's L!brary Initiative was created, Robin Hood transformed one school library with hundreds of donations including 1,000 books from Scholastic. It was the start of a powerful partnership. When Robin Hood created the L!brary Initiative, Scholastic was the first company on board with an extraordinary donation of 1,000,000 books. The company's Founder, President and CEO, Dick Robinson, made this exciting announcement at the 1999 Heroes Breakfast and helped to launch the L!brary Initiative through Scholastic's generous example.

Scholastic has always been in the forefront of helping our children to read. For almost 80 years, Scholastic has been the company teachers have relied on, parents have trusted and kids love.
