Over the last nine years, Robin Hood-supported charter schools have significantly outperformed their local district schools, providing thousands of students in New York City with a quality education that they would not have received otherwise.  In late 2008, New York’s cap on charter schools lifted and Robin Hood partnered with Credit Suisse to replicate our success in bringing superior schools to neighborhoods with the highest concentration of poverty.

The financial support of Credit Suisse employees and the Credit Suisse Foundation helped provide the vital funds needed to create new, innovative and successful charter schools in New York City’s poorest neighborhoods.  In 10 weeks, employees donated an incredible $389,945.  Over 3,000 employees participated, making personal donations through Robin Hood's Web site.  The Credit Suisse Foundation agreed to match $2 for every $1 donated by employees, bringing the total amount raised to nearly $1.17 million.

Credit Suisse also donated a considerable amount of employee talent through participation in Robin Hood’s Corporate Volunteer Program.  Through team-based volunteer experiences, Credit Suisse employees were personally involved with the mission of this initiative.
