Reimagining Our Child Care System

Every child deserves the opportunity for a strong start in life. Child care is the foundation upon which our youngest New Yorkers
receive their earliest education and lays the groundwork for early development, academic achievement, economic productivity,
and a lifetime of better health. But the COVID-19 pandemic forced hundreds of child care programs to close, deepening child care deserts throughout the city and hindering NYC’s recovery.

Investing in New York City’s child care system will help reduce poverty, improve family economic stability, ensure healthy child development, and increase the ability of parents and caregivers — especially women — to work and earn more.

Robin Hood is partnering with Mayor Adams' Administration on an unprecedented overhaul of New York City’s child care system.

Our Child Care Quality & Innovation Initiative will catalyze improvements in child care for families across all five boroughs of New York City, and will drive innovation and quality initiatives supporting tens of thousands of children, ultimately impacting over one billion dollars in public funding each year.

The most impactful poverty-fighting investment we can make starts at infancy. That’s why Robin Hood is focused on addressing this challenge at scale.
