This month, see how Robin Hood is combatting NYC’s food crisis by backing emergency food partners, investing in innovation, and advocating for policy changes.

Hunger rates are rising in New York City

As we head into the holidays and the season of giving, our latest Poverty Tracker report exposes a troubling trend: a growing number of New Yorkers cannot afford enough to eat. From 2021 to 2022, adult rates of food hardship rose from 30% to 34%, and family rates rose from 39% to 43%. This surge reflects the lapse of vital pandemic-era policies that increased aid to New Yorkers during COVID, but have now expired – and marks a need for urgent action.
