August 10, 2021 – Sagaponack, NY – On Saturday, Robin Hood hosted its annual “Lemonaid” Event at Wölffer Estate Vineyard in the Hamptons to raise money for initiatives that fight poverty and promote economic mobility for low-income New Yorkers. The event included a children and family-hosted lemonade stand, live music, face painting, giveaways, and more. Since Lemonaid’s inception in 2004, children and family-hosted lemonade stands in the area have raised $1.5 million to help elevate low-income New Yorkers from poverty. 100 percent of sales from the Wölffer Lemonaid stand go to Robin Hood programs that assist New Yorkers in need with food assistance, education, health care, housing, job training, and more.

“We are very proud to partner with Robin Hood to host the annual ‘Lemonaid’ Event. This event is so special to me, and we had such an amazing day where families and kids learned about Robin Hood’s mission and joined together to raise money and awareness to help the best poverty-fighting programs in New York City,” said Joey Wölffer, Co-Owner and Creative Director of Wölffer Estate Vineyard.

“We are grateful to every person who attends Lemonaid and to every partner who helps make these events possible. Together, we are rebuilding a new New York, helping get families back on their feet, get kids back on track, and get New Yorkers back to work,” said Sheila Kelly, Chief Advancement Officer at Robin Hood.

Robin Hood’s partners and attendees helped to make the day a success. Wölffer Estate named August 7th “Robin Hood Day,” Juice Press donated thousands of bottles of lemonade for Robin Hood families to sell, and CIBC matched Lemonaid donations dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 to support Robin Hood’s work.

Lemonaid was started in 2004 in the Hamptons by the children and families of Robin Hood’s supporters. Over time, communities throughout the tri-state area have created town-wide Lemonaid Events to support Robin Hood’s work. Last summer, Robin Hood teenagers hosted virtual Lemonaid events, including a golf tournament, a text-to-donate app, and a community fridge. Earlier this summer, Scarsdale’s Lemonaid community held a virtual bake sale that raised more than $23,000 for New Yorkers in need.

Last year, Robin Hood served more than one million low-income New Yorkers across all five boroughs through grants to 708 community-based organizations, totaling $172 million. Robin Hood funding supports New Yorkers in need with cash assistance, food, housing, healthcare, education and other urgently needed services. The Robin Hood Relief Fund, which has raised more than $80 million to date, distributed more than $80 million in COVID-19 relief aid to New Yorkers facing food insecurity, unemployment, housing instability, and more.
