New York, NY, March 10, 2021: Robin Hood, New York City’s largest poverty-fighting organization, has issued the following statement regarding the passage of the American Rescue Plan on behalf of Chief Executive Officer, Wes Moore:

“The American Rescue Plan will bring long overdue relief to New Yorkers who are living in – or at the edge of – poverty, including the 2 million New Yorkers facing food insecurity, the 1.2 million New Yorkers at risk of eviction, and 1 in 5 children who are living in poverty citywide. Most notably, the American Rescue Plan’s inclusion of a fully refundable and increased child tax credit will effectively cut child poverty in half, elevating nearly 160,000 children out of poverty in New York City alone. To tackle child poverty with the sincerity this issue demands, we must make this reformed child tax credit permanent, thereby disrupting the generational cycle of poverty for families, particularly those of color, in this city and our country at large.” – Wes Moore, CEO of Robin Hood
